Charity Challenge
Anne Mawdsley MBE, Chief Executive and Founder of the Raynaud’s & Scleroderma Association, recently raised £27,000 for Raynaud’s and Scleroderma research in a very courageous challenge.  Risking pain and injury to life and limb she endured unseasonably low temperatures of -32 degrees on a 2 day charity adventure through the wilds of northern Finland.  Anne made meticulous planning to help her cope with the conditions and was also well looked after by the excellent Finnish guides.  We can't recommend these adventures to similar sufferers of Raynaud's - but well done to Anne and Jo!

After several years of lower prices with the UK£ recdovering after the 2007/08 crash - recent years have seen a setback - firstly with the referndum vote and then the Brexit decsion.  The UK£ has fallen again over recent months but we have forward purchased most of the currency we need so will be able to keep our prices stable for the rest of the season.

New Itineraries
As always we strive to improve our holidays both in variety and quality.  Again we have discarded some guiding companies to leave only the best.  New itineraries in Finland giving even more choice.
We continue to develop itineraries - particularly shorter ones which are popular (cost or time or both?)  We only select guides who excel in their care for their dogs and you the client.  We hope to introduce a grading system soon for our trips giving the rating from clients over the last few years.  (Anything less than 10 or 9 out of 10 gives us cause for concern!)

20 years
August 2011 will see the 20th year anniversary of our time in the travel trade organizing adventurous holidays.  There have been some notable achievements by our clients.  The first 'unsupported husky expedition to the Magnetic North Pole', well done to Mike Doran and well done to Paul Landry for keeping the Polar Bear at bay!!  And an equally brave Anne Mawdsley venturing in to the freezing Arctic (see below)

Some of our clients have also had life changing experiences - one client on my first Boundary Waters Expedition came back 'changed and full of new confidence' - another client after a dog sledding trip to Canada packed up her job upon return and set off around the world - and of course we have a few who have quit working in the UK and gone off to work as dog handlers and guides - you have been warned!!

It is nice to work in an industry which can enhance peoples lives.  I am a great believer in the good effects of adventurous travel in the wilderness areas of our world.  We have had a few mishaps over the years - only the odd minor injury thankfully ... the worst injury happened to Gill ... so we do have experience in depth.

One might think I will we looking forward to the 25th anniversary but I hope to be retired before then ....  so anyone wish to buy an Adventure Travel business - would need to be a safe pair of hands!!
